The dining room table we built rested its legs on cardboard wedges while a proper rug hunt was conducted these past few months. I wavered between two styles - a streamlined and monochrome looks vs. a Southwestern/Moroccan feel.
On the bottom right is an Ikea rug that is currently out of stock and the top left is a lovely West Elm rug that is out of the budget today. I came across some decent items on Wayfair, but all of the patterns that met my criteria aesthetic-wise had too big of a pile height.
In the end, it came down to pricing as I was able to snag a STOCKHOLM rug on Craig's List for a very good price and in excellent condition, which I am going to swap out with the Margo Selby Zigzag Stripe Kilim Rug from West Elm that currently lives in the living room. A real beauty:
Had I not scored the rug second hand, the rugs at Pattern Society would have likely been my choice. They are very reasonably priced and I do love a good Swiss Cross pattern. I foresee a Pattern Society purchase in my future.
The moral of this story is to always check Craig's List one last time before pulling the trigger on a purchase. If you're on a hunt of your own, may the rug gods be with you.
All of the rugs are linked in the images above, but here they are listed out in clockwise order for your navigating pleasure:
